The World Wushu Championships occurs every two years and brings together the top martial artists from the 121 member nations of the International Wushu Federation (IWuF).
The 10th World Wushu Championships anticipates the attendance of more than 1500 athletes and 50 000 spectators throughout the week long event.
The 10thWWC will encompass a GRAND OPENING CEREMONY that will feature world class performances by select ENTERTAINMENT ARTISTS and MARTIAL ARTS MASTERS. The highlight of the evening will be a spectacular showcase by
CHINA's OFFICIAL WUSHU PERFORMANCE TEAM.
[Wushu is the Chinese term for Martial Arts. Wushu encompasses all Chinese based styles such as Tai Chi, Shaolin Kung-fu and Wing Chun amongst others. Wushu showcases all these arts in a structured, global sports environment.
The combative and non-combative elements of Wushu are known as “Sanshou” and “Taolu” respectively. Sanshou features full contact fighting defined by kicks, strikes and throws fought on a raised “leitai” platform.
Taolu is the performance element of Wushu consisting of highly artistic and precise routines both with and without the use of weaponry.
Taolu movements are the basis for the spectacular choreography often highlighted in action films and television.
